WHY WE GIVE

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

Malachi 3:10  NIV

“Gratitude is what you feel. Thanksgiving is what you do.”

Tim Keller

We are made in God’s image and are meant to be creators of life and hope, not the consumers of our culture’s "shiny gods."

When we give, we are expressing worship in a tangible way by putting God first in our lives. Bringing our gift to church is an opportunity for us to give God our thanks and show Him we trust Him. Giving regularly allows us to be a part of the most important work in life - spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.

We have the ability to change the world and create a legacy that will live forever in the lives of generations to follow. That legacy starts when each of us takes the hard steps of financial discipline and fulfilling the call to generosity that God has placed in all of us.

2019 Stewardship Campaign

Putting GOD first in living and giving

Our Stewardship Team is using a congregational stewardship program developed by Mike Slaughter and based on his book, "shiny gods: finding freedom from things that distract us."
The "First" program is based on a simple belief: that we put God before everything else in our lives—possessions, gadgets, houses, cars, careers, busy schedules, even before family and friends—and that when we do, we joyfully work and produce and contribute to God’s kingdom. Giving flows out of gratitude to the Giver.

Mike Slaughter writes: "I want to know at the end of my life that I did something more than eat the food, breathe the air, and have a pretty good life. I want to know that I left it all on the field, sowed all that I was given, and reaped a harvest that will continue to impact lives for the Kingdom long after I have physically left this place. What about you? Join me. Let’s lose our life in God’s love, only to find it."

Over the next couple of months you will hear from our Stewardship Team as we prepare for our Celebration Sunday at the end of September.  Check back here for videos, articles and more information as we each prayerfully consider how we can accept the challenge of "being called higher" in the area of stewardship.
