UMYF:   UMYF stands for United Methodist Youth Fellowship.  Many programs and events are sprinkled across the year, but UMYF is our regular weekly meeting of all students from 6th to 12th grades.  We presently meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evenings.  We begin with a group discussion, have a snack together, and participate in games or activities.

 

Here is a snapshot of some scheduling details everyone needs to know:

·     The time for UMYF meetings will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Sunday.

·     Junior high and senior high will be separated for lessons but snack time will be together.

·     There will not be unsupervised time during UMYF.

 

God is doing some great things for, through, and with our youth at Mount Zion.  Pray that this continues and expands for His Kingdom.

Connect Groups:  Each week students may choose to participate in small groups to help one another grow as Christians.  Groups, which are single sex and led by an adult, meet from 60 to 90 minutes a week. 

 

Youth Missions & Service:  Mount Zion Youth Ministry is committed to service and mission wherever it leads!  In the past few years, our students have done home improvement projects for people in need across North Carolina; St. Louis, Missouri; and Washington, D.C.  Students have volunteered at local soup kitchens, food banks, and shelters.  We've even traveled to Mexico to help build a church building and a home for a missionary.

Boy Scouts:  Mount Zion is the charter organization for Boy Scout Troop 64 of the Tuscarora Council.  Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys age 11 to 17.  Through the Boy Scout program, young men can achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness, and good citizenship.  You can reach Boy Scout Troop 64 at bsa64info@gmail.com. 

 

Venturing Crew:  Mount Zion charters this youth development program for young men and women age 13 (and have completed 8th grade) through 20 years of age.  Mount Zion's Venturing Crew will complement our current youth programs.

 

Venturing is led by adult leaders, but youth have active leadership roles.  Together, the Venturing Crew will decide on activities such as high adventure, sports, religious life, arts and hobbies, etc. which will provide fun, challenge, and adventure.  The result is a program of meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.
