Youth Ministries
Mount Zion Youth Ministry exists to REACH non-Christian students with the gospel, CONNECT them with other Christians, and TRAIN them in Christian habits, equipping them to SERVE God and CELEBRATE God with their lives.
Welcome to the Mount Zion Youth Ministry! If you're checking us out for the first time, we hope to give you a glimpse of who we are. If you're already part of the Mount Zion family, this is your information source on what's happening.
The vision for Mount Zion youth is the same vision we have for all people: embracing God's love for us through discipleship to Jesus Christ! Above you will find our Youth Ministry purpose statement. Broadly speaking, this is how we partner with young people in becoming disciples of Jesus. All Youth Ministry programming is filtered through these five biblical purposes: reach, connect, train, serve, and celebrate. We are constantly asking ourselves and our youth leaders, "Is this program meeting our purpose? Can we do it better?"
Below is more information about how we put our purpose into action! Thanks for checking us out. We hope to soon meet you face to face!
UMYF: UMYF stands for United Methodist Youth Fellowship. Many programs and events are sprinkled across the year, but UMYF is our regular weekly meeting of all students from 6th to 12th grades. We presently meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evenings. We begin with a group discussion, have dinner together, and participate in games or activities.
During summer 2008, we will be kicking off a new series, "How Can You Get God's Word in You?" Bring your Bible and come prepared to have some fun learning about God's Word.
Youth Missions & Service: Mount Zion Youth Ministry is committed to service and mission wherever it leads! In the past few years, our students have done home improvement projects for people in need across North Carolina; St. Louis, Missouri; and Washington, D.C. Students have volunteered at local soup kitchens, food banks, and shelters. We've even traveled to Mexico to help build a church building and a home for a missionary.
Youth Calendar: Our current youth calendar can be accessed as a PDF file or by viewing our calendar page. Boy Scouts: Mount Zion is the charter organization for Boy Scout Troop 64 of the Tuscarora Council. Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys age 11 to 17. Through the Boy Scout program, young men can achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness, and good citizenship. |
