Music Ministry:
“Let the word of
Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all
wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and
spiritual songs to God.”
--Colossians 3:16
As has been the
case in Judeo-Christian worship for centuries, music plays a strong
role in worship at Mount Zion. We utilize a variety of styles
(traditional hymns, southern gospel music, contemporary music, and
praise and worship songs) in an effort to make worship meaningful
to many people. Our worship services are enhanced through playing of
a grand piano and an organ.
Music is led in
worship by the Chancel Choir. This group practices on Wednesday
evenings at 7:00 and is open to youth and adults. Two cantatas are
presented by this choir each year in addition to Sunday anthems.
Mount Zion has
three octaves of Malmark handbells and three octaves of Malmark
choirchimes. These are used by our adult handbell choir to enhance
our worship services. This choir practices at 5:00 on Sunday
evenings. In January we will be trying to form a youth handbell
choir as well. This choir will practice at 6:00 on Sunday evenings.
In addition to our
choirs, we have many talented individuals who bless us by sharing
their God-given talents and providing special music for our services.
These talented individuals range in age from 5 to over 80 and share
their voices and instrumental talents. We strongly encourage
worshippers to praise God through music at Mount Zion.
