Children's Ministries
Let the little children come to me: do not stop them for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. -- Mark 10:14
Just as Jesus did, we welcome children to the ministries of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. We want every child to have the opportunity to come to know Jesus, grow in His love, and share that love with others.
We continue to seek to improve our ministry opportunities. We hope to continually add other ministries as God provides the leaders and resources. Kim Stephenson, Children's Pastor Donna Rex and Jenny Barbour, Children's Ministry Co-chairs (All can be reached at 772-8415.)
Sunday School: 10:00 to 10:45 each Sunday morning. Children's classes are located in the Educational Wing.Nursery (birth to 2 years): downstairs Preschool (3 to 4 years): downstairs Kindergarten to 1st grade: upstairs 2nd to 3rd grade: upstairs 4th to 5th grade: downstairs
Sunday Morning Worship Service: Children and babies are welcome to attend worship service with their parents. If you prefer, we offer a nursery for children birth through 3 years old. We have a special Children's Time during worship after which children ages 4 to 8 years may leave for Children's Church. We also have a parlor near the front entrance of the sanctuary if you need a quiet spot for a fussy baby. It has a speaker and window to hear and see what is going on in the worship service.
Nursery: Available during both worship services for birth through 3 years old. Procedure: Parents are given a pager when they check in their child and are required to return the pager to pick up their child.
Children's Bulletins are available during worship service.
Children's Church: After Children’s Time during the worship service, children age 4 to 8 years old are welcome to leave with the Children’s Church leader for a time of Bible learning. Children’s Church is located on the first floor of the Education Wing beside the nursery.
Acolytes: Children (in kindergarten through high school) assist in opening and closing each worship service by processing in with a cross, lighting the altar candles, and placing the Bible on the altar table. A training time in the fall of each year is offered for children who would like to participate. Cub Scouts: Cub Scouting means "doing." Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Mount Zion is the charter organization for Cub Scout Pack 64. At Mount Zion, these activities happen at weekly den meetings and monthly pack meetings. If you are a boy in first grade through fifth grade—or you're 7 to 10 years old—then Cub Scouting is for you! If you have any questions about Cub Scout Pack 64, please call 772-8415. Be sure to check our calendar for further details of all our Children's Ministry plans. We hope to see you soon!
