Hospice of Wake County:

Hospice of Wake County will host a daytime training class for new and prospective family support volunteers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 20 and 27.  Training sessions are held at the nonprofit agency's office at 1300 S. Mary's Street in Raleigh.  Volunteer candidates are taught the hospice mission and philosophy as well as training for visiting patients in homes, hospitals, and nursing homes.  Attending does not obligate participants to continue as volunteers.  During training, attendees can decide if patient care is the appropriate volunteer opportunity for them.  Other opportunities exist for administrative support, fundraising, speaker's bureau volunteer, grief companions, and puppeteers.  For details, including a list of volunteer positions and future training events, go to www.hospiceofwake.org or call Arndt at 719-7116.  At Mount Zion, the contact person is Lisa Bleauvelt at 662-1578.
