Mount Zion's February Missions Focus: Harbor House.
February Missions Focus is Harbor House. Mount Zion will be hosting a brunch on Saturday, February 25th, from 9 am to 12 noon, for these women who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and women in transition. We invite you to come encourage these women! You can sign-up on the sheet in the Narthex or contact Lisa Blauvelt at lblauvelt@gmail.com or 819-8108.
- CAFE Host/Hostesses are needed on Sundays. Please sign-up in the kitchen. This is a great way that we can welcome our visitors. CAFE is from 9:15 to 9:45am in our Fellowship Hall. Hosts need to set-up and clean-up, and provide light refreshments (purchased or homemade). Coffee, creamers, and sweeteners are provided.
- Acolytes & Greeters are an important part of our Worship Services and are needed each Sunday. Please sign-up in the Narthex on the shelves on the left. If your child is interested in becoming an Acolyte there will be training this Fall.
- If you are interested in learning more about serving on a committee or team at Mount Zion, the Self-Nomination Information Guide and Form is located in the Narthex, and also the online Document Library, here. It gives a description of each team, commitments, & talents/skills/abilities needed. Also attached is a form for you to complete and turn in to the Church Office if you decide to apply.

- Anyone interested in learning more about Mount Zion or who would like to join, is invited to the Discovering Church Membership Class on Sunday, February 19th, after the 11 am Worship Service in the Fellowship Hall. A light lunch will be provided. Childcare is available upon request. Please sign-up by contacting the Church Office by Thursday, February 16th.
- A Vacation Bible School Planning Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 19th, at 5pm, in the Fellowship Hall. If you are interested in learning about the materials for VBS and about how you can get involved in this great program please plan on attending. - March Newsletter items are due to the Church Office by Monday, February 20th. You can email them to deborah@mountzion-umc.org.
- Parents of 4th graders and up are invited to attend a Talking to Your Children and Youth about Sex on Sunday, February 26th, from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Pastor Carley and Pastor Kristina will discuss some techniques for discussion, as well as information on teenage sexuality. Please RSVP to the Church Office by Wednesday, February 22nd if planning to attend.
- On Saturday, March 3rd, beginning at 8 am, will be the Mount Zion yard clean-up for the Ole Fashion Supper. Volunteers are invited and appreciated. Please bring yard tools
- New Member Sunday will be Sunday, March 4th. Anyone who has attended Discovering Church Memebership Class is invited to join. Please fill out your membership papers and turn them in to the church office by Thursday, March 1st.
- Mount Zion's Ole Fashion Supper will be held on Saturday, March 10th, from 4 to 8 pm in the Fellowship Hall. This supper has been successful through the years due to volunteers! Soon there will be a sign-up sheet in the Fellowship Hall. There will be many ways that anyone can volunteer: set-up, kitchen, dessert table, drink table, cooks, and clean-up to name a few. Donations of funds to purchase food items, home cooked vegetables, entrees, desserts, tea or drinks are also needed. Work night will be held on Friday, March 9th, beginning at 6 pm.
- The Camp Don Camp Lee Church Family Retreat will be held on Friday, May 27th, - Sunday, May 29th. Rates are $95 per person for two nights with five meals. Children ages 1-4 are only $6 per calendar day. Children under 1 year are free. 50% of the total cost is due on Sunday, March 25th, and final payment is due on Sunday, April 22nd. - Nursery is now provided on Wednesdays for those at choir practice, from 6:45 to 8:45 pm.
- The dates have been set for our Adult Missions Team trip to Haiti for August 7 to 15, 2012. If you desire to be a part of this team or would like more information, please contact Lisa Blauvelt at lblauvelt@gmail.com or 819-8108. Limited space is available.
- The Wake Christian Academy's chorale and handbell choir will be performing for us tonight, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m in the Sanctuary. Erin Hewett, daughter of Tony & Wendy Hewett, sings with the chorale. Everyone is invited to attend!
- The Prayer Shawl Group is making a quilt this year to sell at Harvest Day. Anyone can help who can quilt, is interested in learning to quilt, or would simply like to help put pieces together. The group meets every 2nd Monday of the month at 7 pm. The next meeting is February 13th at 111 Randy Court in Angier. Donations of "prewashed" light and medium blue or light and medium green prints and solids are being accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Johnson at 919-369-8184.
- The Morning Glory Women's Circle will meet this Tuesday, February 14th, at 10 am in the Fellowship Hall. All women are invited for the progam and to bring their lunch and stay to fellowship and have lunch together after the program.
- Creative Christian Small Group is hosting a "Crazy Crafting" Event! Everyone is invited! This event will begin on Friday, February 17th, from 6 pm to 12 midnight and on Saturday, February 18th, from 12 noon to 12 midnight. Plan to come and bring a project to work on. - Acolyte Training will be held on Saturday, February 18th, from 9:30 to 11:30 am. Children can begin to acolyte when they are 5 years old (and able to sit quietly through the entire service). All children are invited to attend training! Acolytes are needed each Sunday for all three services. To sign-up or for questions, contact Trish Nobling at ctpkhj@yahoo.com.
